Great Fire of London- Start of the Fire DOWNLOADABLE



This is part of a 3 lesson series suitable for ideally age 10+ although it has been adapted for younger students. Using eye witness accounts and extracts from Pepys diary we aim to bring this incredible event to life for your students. This first lesson is largely movement based and concentrates on the layout City of London itself in relation to the start of the fire and how it spread. The eye witness accounts at Pudding Lane are consulted and from these further conclusions can be drawn. The students will also learn the differing suggestions by Londoners at the time for the causes of the fire.

Key Drama skills in this lesson are configuration mime, fire simulation exercise, essence machine and interviewing. The physicality of this lesson is a great way-into the topic and really helps the students to understand the cause and effect nature of the incident ensuring successful learning.
