In this lesson the students will consider life on the banana plantations in countries which are very different to ours.

They will discuss and enact the people's jobs through occupational mime, tableaux and improvisation.

They will take on character roles of the workers hearing about their way of life and their potential difficulties through interviewing, documentary and thought tracking techniques.

They will understand the journey of a banana from harvesting to the shops.

They will discuss and put forward supportive argument for the Fairtrade system and how to get the message to people that choosing these products is a good thing for everyone - growers and buyers.

They will learn how Fairtrade has spin off benefits in helping developing countries with education, health, safety and fair treatment at work.

*This lesson can be done in a classroom setting.
