SUITABLE FOR CLASSROOM SET-UP
Age 10-14
Ivar's journey is the story of a 14 year old Viking boy who goes to sea on a longship and witnesses a disturbing raid.
Confronted by the brutality of the raid, the young boy returns to his homeland with mixed feelings.
Using Drama skills and conventions the story is divided into scenes/sections and covers at least 5 lessons.
Students will consider the morality of the Vikings infamous raids as seen through the eyes of young Ivar (Ee-var).
It is a journey story suitable for a creative class who have some knowledge of Viking Life and who teachers feel would be able to take a deeper insight.
This story is suitable for performance by making some simple adaptations.
